Journey to A New Life – Day 1

After the deaths of Keithalon Hector Jones (aka Joker), the funniest and most compassionate young man I ever knew and Cloud; the smartest, most observant, protective and funniest white German Shepherd I ever raised and owned. These were the darkest times of my life following the death of Patrick.

Although, I tried to continue my exercise routines, attend swim meets, stay involved with motorcycle groups and Coast Guard Auxiliary activities. I could not get rid of the sadness that invaded my home environment and life daily. It took two mild strokes, open-heart and valve replacement surgery, as well as cardiac rehab to realize; if I didn’t get up and out of Maryland, I too will die.

Upon awakening one morning in August, I said to my empty house, “I am selling you, buying an RV equipped with a Toy Hauler and moving to South Dakota.” So, my house was advertised for sale via an open-market realtor network on August 27, 2017.


On February 19, North American Van Lines packed and loaded my remaining household possessions and motorcycle for the trip to South Dakota. Therefore, the buyer took possession of my house on February 23rd. As a result, I spent the night at Executive Inn and Suites across the street from the residential development I had lived since 1987.
